Gate valve
The Illustrated Guide to Mechanical Building Services, Third Edition (BG 31/2017), by David Bleicher, published by BSRIA in 2017, suggests that a gate valve is: ‘Used as an isolation valve. Operates by moving a “gate” up and down. Ball valves are more commonly used in place of gate valves.’
The Illustrated Guide to Hot and Cold Water Services (BG 33/2014), written by Reginald Brown and published by BSRIA in 2014, it suggests that a gate valve is: ‘Used as an isolation valve. Largely superseded by quarter turn ball valves.’
